Sunday - Thursday
Assists in the restraint or position of patients for blood collection procedures. Performs venipunctures, heel sticks and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. Skilled in the collection of other specimens such as clean catch urine, nasal/throat swabs, drug screens, therapeutic phlebotomies, etc. May be asked to learn and perform appropriate point of care testing. Performs related clerical duties to include: answering telephones, relaying messages, mailing or faxing of patient reports, unpacking supplies, and any other duties within their scope of training and education required by the laboratory supervisor. Assists with orientation and in-service training of employees and students. Maintains all annual competencies associated with job related duties. Maintains confidentiality of all information.
Experience: 1-2 years phlebotomy and specimen processing. Certification through clinical phlebotomy program may be considered for experience.
Licenses/Certificates: Current CPR certification required through BLS (may be obtained within 90 days of hire). Preferred Certified Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician through ASPT or equivalent. 1-2 years phlebotomy and specimen processing experience may substitute for certification.
