**Job Description:** Isilon’s Data Center Operations team is looking for a hands-on, passionate, results-oriented individual to help, implement and support Isilon’s ever growing data center footprint in Durham, NC. Other services including: Resolving connectivity issues system repairs Installation of new equipment and new projects in an Engineering Lab environment. As a Lab Systems Engineer you will be working with a talented team of engineers to create new projects and manage existing projects plus day to day lab operations that can support the ever growing demand of a very fast moving organization. Successful candidates will be obsessed with operational excellence, communicate clearly and have a consistent track record of improving efficiencies by way of innovation and forward planning. Our customers require creative engineering balanced with high quality and focus. Your days will be a combination of helping understand and prioritize customer issues and product vulnerabilities and contributing to the overall growth and robustness of the organization. You’ll interact with managers, product management, global support, Sales and core engineering, to bring our product to a broader and increasingly demanding market. Requirements + Experience with UNIX / Linux and Windows Server plus basic VMware Knowledge. + Advanced hardware troubleshooting and repair with Isilon storage equipment and other rack mount server platforms + 2-3 years of experience fixing PC hardware + Advanced understanding of networking and TCP/IP + A+, Network+ Minimum, CCNA certifications preferred + Solid familiarity with Microsoft Office Excel and Outlook + Familiarity with Microsoft and Linux Operating systems + Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail + Ability to work successfully as part of a remote team reporting into the larger Seattle Infrastructure group + Ability to travel to Seattle Headquarters for multi-week initial training as well as occasional trips to labs in Hopkinton, MA, Durham, NC, and Plymouth, MN + Ability to work occasional off hours and to repetitively lift 70 lbs for installations Desired Skills + Hands-on technical expertise on Cisco, Brocade and Arista platforms. + Understanding of development/test labs and workflows. + Experience with VMWare + Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization + Operational support and passion, with experience in establishing, measuring, and meeting service level agreements, improving the availability, performance, and quality of systems. + Ability to repetitively lift 70 lbs. for installation of Isilon products. The Engineering team manages all aspects of lab environments for the engineering workflow at the Isilon Division of EMC, including: development & test lab equipment, lab networks, web applications, databases, caching servers, various monitoring systems, custom tools, and build environments across multiple geographic locations.
