Weekend Only - Evenings 12 hour shift

Position Summary:
To supervise and monitor the daily activities in the section assigned and ensure that all requests for laboratory testing are accomplished in a timely and accurate manner consistent with departmental policies and procedures. Ensures that all equipment and procedures are functioning properly to provide an acceptable level of service. To have the ability to evaluate the quality of results rendered to physicians and institute corrective actions if results do not meet established criteria. Ensures that all procedures and manuals are current, and conform to accreditation standards. Performs bench work meeting the same guidelines and expectations as other Medical Technologists. Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
-Serology/Rapid Molecular Testing Oversight
-Maintains proficiency in all areas of the laboratory.
-Ensures testing is performed in accordance to meet the individual needs of newborns to geriatric patients
-Responds effectively to STAT requests as well as follows established procedure for critical value reporting.
-Writes, maintains, revises and reviews procedure manuals as necessary.
-Establishes and maintains quality control programs and Quality Assurance Programs.
-Performs and documents all quality control as specified in a complete and timely manner.
-Processes patients and specimens in the reception area.
-Maintains proper supply inventory.
Qualifications:
Education:
-Bachelor's Degree with a strong course background in chemistry and biology or military service equivalent.

License/Certification/Registration:
-Current registration as a MT or MLS from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or a MT certification from American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent is mandatory.
-Appropriate specialty certification is desirable, but not mandatory.

Experience:
-A minimum of four years clinical laboratory experience per College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements.
-Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in the area of assignment.
-Minimum of one year supervisor experience preferred.
