Lead, Alternate Delivery Technology

Monsanto is seeing an exceptionally talented scientific leader to become an integral member of our multi-disciplinary Chemistry organization as Alternate Delivery Technology Lead. This role will have responsibility for leading a team focused on the definition and advancement of technologies enabling development of new and improved agrochemical formulations designed for our global crop protection business.

Responsibilities include:
• Identify scientific opportunities and technologies to develop a robust formulation enabling platform
• Develop fundamental rules and understanding around phase behavior of complex mixtures to enable Crop Protection Formulation development
• Lead a team of scientists and manage internal and external collaborations
• Provide periodic information to key stakeholders to maximize the impact of this enabling platform and enable Monsanto's Crop Protection Strategy
• Interface with business and technology partners within Monsanto

Required Education & Skills/Experience:
• PhD Degree in Chemistry or related multidisciplinary area
• Minimum of 5 or more years in a scientific leadership role in a global corporation
• Minimum of 5 or more years as a people leader
• Ability to define and articulate technical problems and provide team leadership in a scientific field
• Experience of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
• Experience in leading a key initiative within Industry
• Track record of good understanding of first principles of formulation technology and delivery technology

Desired Education & Skills/Experience:
• Background in colloid & interfacial science and the evaluation and selection of surfactants, emulsifiers, dispersants, and solvents
• Product development experience, preferably with agrochemicals, or in other related industries - e.g., consumer products, paints & architectural coatings, or food formulations
• Understanding of various modes of action and the benefits of different formulation types for pesticides (herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides)
• Working knowledge of experimental design and statistical methods
• Experience with development, scale-up, and transfer of production processes to commercial manufacturing
