The Lead Combustion Aero-Acoustic Engineer will develop innovative solutions and advance GE gas turbine combustion technology through modeling, testing and interpretation of results in challenging combustion operation, emissions and heat transfer environments using the latest in commercial and GE proprietary developed simulation software.
The lead engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate in a rapid pace environment. This person will plan and execute projects and apply resources to best meet product development requirements. The role will include demonstrating accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives in the fields of combustion aerothermal design, thermo-acoustics and/or CFD and work with leaders across GE to set strategy and leverage best practices. The lead engineer will develop and apply standard methods and present in reviews that demonstrate productivity and technical excellence.
As the Lead Combustion Aero-Acoustic Engineer, you will:
+ Develop & deliver state-of-the-art NPI ( New Product Introduction )design solutions to improve the combustor aero performance and durability using computer simulations and software
+ Execute the design, analysis and validation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
+ Drive delivery of multiple concurrent high quality NPI programs to accomplish technical performance deliverables, documentation and schedule objectives
+ Improve tools for combustion aero, thermo-acoustics, emissions and heat transfer calculations. Work with the Advanced Design Tools team to develop and apply tools
+ Run sub-scale and large scale combustion testing to validate models and improve designs
+ Present results to multiple levels of management during program technical reviews and at GE combustion symposiums
+ Master's Degree in Engineering or Science with focus in CFD or combustion
+ Considerable experience in industrial applications of gas turbine or IC engine engineering
+ Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification

+ PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a computational fluid dynamics or thermos-acoustics relevant thesis
+ Possess strong communication skills, including the ability to give persuasive presentations. In this role, you should have ability to respond well to questions and analyze complex requirements
+ Excellent organization, interpersonal, leadership, facilitation and problem solving skills
+ Customer focused with ability to develop & interpret requirements
+ Ability to work to tight deadlines with multiple priorities
+ Experience with RANS and LES CFD solution methods
+ Laboratory and field testing experience of combustion systems in large industrial gas turbines
+ Knowledge of natural gas, IGCC, syngas and liquid fuel combustion systems and operability
+ Familiarity with Gas Turbine Combustion Systems
+ Strong computer skills using heat transfer, thermo-acoustics tools and CFD
+ Familiarity with optimization and DOE techniques
