As The Lead Engineer, Technical Publications for GE's storied Middle River Aircraft Systems (MRAS) business, you will be have overall responsibility for maintaining and / or authoring all Operation and Maintenance Publications of Aircraft Engine Nacelle / Thrust Reverser Components.
This is a working lead position carrying out writing tasks as well as directing / reviewing the work of assigned staff and suppliers.
In particular you will :
+ On MRAS sustaining programs, draft and execute Publication Change Requests (PCRs) for Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM) and Power Plant Build Up Manual (PPBUM) and other ICA
+ Draft Service Bulletins (SB) and implement configuration change documents
+ This effort comprises:
+ receipt of original engineering data from programs or receipt of change requests and draft source data from PSE
+ opening a PCR
+ developing correctly formatted revision material
+ coordinating illustration requests with vendor as needed
+ coordinating the review and approval cycle for each PCR
+ and submitting the completed PCR / revision material to the customer
+ Interface with PSE, airframers and other customers as required, and will be accountable for timely submittal of finished PCR revision material
+ Review and provide comments on ICA submitted by MRAS hardware component suppliers to ensure correct style and format
+ Tasks include work assignment to staff, review, delivery, forecast, and cost quoting activities for MRAS Nacelle Component ICA
+ Author technical publications and updates for all existing program models using state-of-the-art publication techniques
+ Develop work packages, direct actions and review work of publication suppliers
+ Conduct or support on-equipment validation of maintenance, operation, and repair procedures
+ Troubleshoot and resolve publication discrepancies
+ Work with Aviation industry and customer standards to develop FAA approved publications
+ Ensure projects are implemented on time with high quality and within budget
+ Write, edit, and manage some technical communication in support of business products, including supplier documentation
+ Develop illustrations and accomplishment instructions that show features and functions of the product in documentation
+ Collaborate with hardware engineers in the creation and implementation of this documentation
+ Provide input on other individual contributor performance, training, and development needs
+ High school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing or shop experience)
+ A minimum of 8 years of technical writing experience (Including : Understanding of Aviation Publications and ATA specifications; experience with the review and publications implementation of Engineering drawings or Engineering changes)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :
+ This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
+ Familiarity with ATA iSpec2200 authoring standards
+ Familiarity with S1000d authoring standards
+ Understanding of Simplified English using ASD-STE-150
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
+ Ability to influence others and lead small teams
+ Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
+ Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
