The Risk Management Organization

Risk Management – Captives Team

The Consultant - Treasury will report to the Director – Captive Operations and will have overall responsibility for preparing the departmental operating budget for Treasury and the insurance budget for all Verizon entities and monitoring monthly variances between the budget and actual results. The Consultant will participate in monthly meetings with the Treasurer and present the monthly financial results. The Consultant will work with Corporate Accounting to ensure financial reporting integrity with a focus on allocating insurance expense to Verizon entities and reconciling prepaid insurance and expense accounts. The position will be responsible for collecting and monitoring department-wide data used to complete several quarterly and annual compliance requirements. The incumbent will participate in ad hoc projects with significant financial impacts.

  • Drives all aspects of budgeting, financial control, and forecasting associated with the Treasury and Risk Management Departmental budgets and insurance budget
  • Coordinates completion of the monthly budget analysis reports for the Senior Executive team. Ensures that all variances from plan have been identified and explained. Ensures comprehensive action plans for the correction of negative variances are documented and implemented
  • Works with Corporate Accounting to ensure financial reporting integrity. Ensures that accounts comply with monthly financial reporting standards. Responsible for amortizing and allocating insurance expense to Verizon subsidiaries and for reconciling prepaid insurance accounts
  • Leads the Treasury Department collection and verification of data for compliance regimens, including the annual capital budget, CPS-103 Authority to Approve Transactions , SOX-302, IRS reportable transactions, anti-boycott certification, Massachusetts State regulations on capital expenditures and CPS-810, Data Security
  • Provides support to special projects related to driving efficiency / expense management.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance required
  • Four years of accounting or financial planning and analysis experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of prepaid expense accounting and coast allocation.
  • Demonstrated experience in expense budgeting, variance analysis and preparation of Powerpoint presentations for a senior-level audience
  • Strong social skills to progress initiatives across different reporting lines

Even better if you have:

  • MBA with a concentration in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CPA certification
  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable with presenting to executives
