Risk Management - Claims Team
The Consultant – Claims will report to the Director – Claims and will have responsibility for processing and resolving Verizon’s workers’ compensation, automobile liability, and general liability insurance claims. The primary role of this position is claims oversight and analysis in an Activity Based Workspace environment. In this role the Consultant will manage a portfolio of claims through direct interaction with Verizon’s Third Party Administrator(s) (TPA). In addition, the Consultant will be responsible for setting strategy for resolution of insured claims; evaluating settlement opportunities; approving settlements within the consultant’s level of authorization and recommending higher level settlement opportunities to supervisors. Further, the Consultant will develop and utilize metrics to drive superior claim outcomes. The position requires strong analytical, decision-making and collaborative skills as well as proven ability to communicate with stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. The Consultant will work closely with the Manager and Director - Claims on program execution and outcomes analysis. The desirable candidate will have the following experience and skills:
Strong understanding of Workers’ Compensation/Auto & General Liability claims management strategies that will mitigate Verizon’s insured claims exposure.
Deep knowledge of Workers’ Compensation benefits and managed care administration.
Thorough knowledge of Tort Law concepts.
Strong understanding of the insurance claims marketplace as well as insurance policy language and structure.
Superior claim evaluation, negotiation and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills in managing others without direct authority or control.
Experience working with predictive models and establishing productivity through use of analytics of large data sets.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or equivalent work experience.
Four or more years of relevant experience demonstrating a progression in responsibility.
Even better if you have:
A professional certification (e.g. ARM, CPCU, CPA, CMA, CFA).
Proven ability to establish strong working relationships across teams (e.g. Legal, Environmental Health & Safety, Sourcing, Operations, Insurer and Broker).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
