The Lead Onsite Specialist - Automation and Controls will support the installation, commissioning, and ongoing lifecycle maintenance of industrial control systems for installed base of customers in North America. You will provide offsite design and development activities along with installation and technical support at customer sites for all planned and non-planned installation / maintenance support activities.
As the Lead Onsite Specialist, you will:
+ Assist in the design, development and installation of new and retrofit control systems using GE PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Controllers and I/O system
+ Assist in the design, development and installation of SCADA and HMI systems using GE Software
+ Conduct studies & research to determine proper hardware and software requirements for projects
+ Design, develop, document PLC, HMI, and SCADA program code
+ Analyze engineering & financial requirements of proposed projects and support ITO (Inquiry to Order) with development of proposals
+ Serve as consultant to both customers and GE management regarding best practice resolutions of complex problems
+ Proactively develop and implement measures to improve operations and customer satisfaction
+ Promote GE controls solutions in front of customers during commercial presentations and other events as needed
+ Liaise with GE support associated with hardware and software engineering
+ Provide support to establish test environments and perform customer factory acceptance tests
+ Provide formal / informal customer training that may be conducted at a GE facility or at customer sites as needed
+ Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years industrial automation control systems experience (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years industrial automation control systems experience). Degree preferably in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
+ Ability and willingness to travel 60% of the time (domestic travel to wherever necessary for service or engineering, some international travel is a possibility)
+ Installation and Commissioning engineering support for a new control system or control system upgrade
+ Planned maintenance or upgrade support for an existing controls systems installation
+ Emergency services support for an existing installation
+ Technical support, in cooperation with the GE commercial team, to develop engineering solutions for a customer
+ Industrial Controls Systems (controllers and I/O)
+ Analog and Digital control systems circuits
+ Instrumentation and the usage of instruments for data recording and troubleshooting
+ Working knowledge of industrial SCADA and HMI systems
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
+ Working knowledge of Windows computer systems and basic networking
