The Lead Solution Architect is responsible for leading and/or participating in the development of project/program level solution architectures and engaging with necessary technical and business personnel to ensure successful realization of the solution architecture in alignment to the firm’s architecture direction.  The Lead Solution Architect possesses domain specialties that may include one or more architecture disciplines (application architecture, infrastructure architecture, information/data architecture, security architecture) and often has key business domain knowledge.
  • Design, document and align solution delivery team on appropriate project level solution architecture to address business requirements balancing cost, risk, delivery schedule expectations and alignment to long term technical architecture direction for the business domain as well as the enterprise
  • Reduce complexity, improve service and reduce cost associated with IT solution delivery
  • Develops technology roadmaps, reference architectures and solution patterns, adhering to corporate standards and architectural guidelines relevant to the domain of expertise
  • Optimizes technology support of the business ensuring alignment to business domain architecture and enterprise architecture direction
  • Participate/Lead the development of the architecture and design of individual solutions
  • Ensure that business solutions have an enterprise and strategic perspective and support EA strategies
  • Assist in the development and promotion of enterprise architecture strategy
  • Analyze, plan and drive the implementation of continuous improvement to infrastructure, application, data and security architecture(s)
  • Possess a strong understanding of relevant business and technical domains providing thought leadership and direction to the technical architectures and architecture roadmaps
  • Create application, infrastructure, data and security design guides and patterns, reference architectures and supporting architecture models and artifacts
  • Manage the evolution, refinement and optimization of the enterprise wide application portfolio
  • Participate in the architecture governance process acting as a steward to ensure solution conformance to domain and enterprise architecture direction
  • Maintain key technical architectural frameworks like the Application Portfolio Model, Target State Architectures and Technology Roadmaps, ensuring their continued relevance for evaluation and planning
  • Collaborate closely with business leaders to understand and implement the business strategies for the organization




Required Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience architecting large scale applications with at least three large scale implementations with progressively larger degrees of responsibility and scope of implementation
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience with solution architecture and integration
  • 5-7 years of experience working with financial services; preferably with annuity, insurance, equity and fixed income mutual funds products
  • Experience and knowledge of technologies, tools, frameworks, patterns, vendor packages and platforms 
  • Experience working with stakeholders to develop architecture frameworks that aligns strategy, processes, and IT assets with business goals
  • Business domain expertise in key financial services functional areas and understanding of the operations, business value drivers
  • Ability to analyze business operations to understand their strengths / weaknesses and determine opportunities for process/functional re-engineering
  • Ability to translate high level business requirements into business capabilities
  • A minimum of a bachelor of science in Computer Science, CIS/MIS or equivalent degree from an accredited four year institution
Desired Skills:
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills for effective messaging on strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Prefer experience with TIAA enterprise vendor solutions: Sungard Omni / Pershing / DST / Siebel / Salesforce / FIS
  • Experience in within the following enterprise tool stack preferred:  Java / Oracle Database / Dashboarding Technologies / Workflow Technologies / Web & Mobile Frameworks / Master Data Management / Service Oriented Architecture / Message Brokers / Big Data & Analytics / Cloud Hosting / MicroServices
