: Rating Agencies, Capital Markets, and Liquidity – Rating Agencies and Capital Markets



Reporting directly to the Head of Rating Agencies, Capital Markets, and Liquidity, this position is responsible for leading efforts related to managing capital structure and rating agencies. This position requires frequent interaction with senior management across Treasury, Risk, Investments, Finance, and other Lines of Business focusing on the management of cash, free cash flow, capital structure metrics (leverage, coverage) and originating, executing and managing domestic capital and credit related financing transactions and capital structure.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop financing plan and execute target capital structures for the company and its subsidiaries in line with business objectives and risk appetite
  • Analyze and evaluate capital structure metrics (cash, free cash flow, leverage, coverage) of the company
  • Prepare and maintain capital structure, cash, and free cash flow models
  • Develop board and management presentations including capital structure presentations
  • Research and analyze peer financials, industry, and market data
  • Support development of the capital policy
  • Lead analysis of financial instruments and structures to support corporate financing decisions
  • Develop and execute financing strategies for debt and equity transactions based on financing plan, the company’s financial performance, capital markets environment, and other relevant considerations
  • Manage holding company long-term cash projections process
  • Manage debt portfolio metrics, including interest rate risk, fixed-floating ratio, weighted average maturities, weighted average interest rate
  • Support development and execution of common stock dividend and share repurchase strategies
  • Support management of relationship with debt holders and shareholders
  • Support development of bank scorecard for bank relationship management
  • Manage credit facilities and guarantees
  • Monitor compliance with financial covenants
  • Manage intercompany funding activities, including subsidiary loans and dividends
  • Manage leasing analysis activities
  • Support management of relationships with credit rating agencies, including modeling credit agency metrics, managing preparation for rating agency meetings, and facilitating submissions of required information to the credit rating agencies
  • Manage credit ratings for capital markets transactions
  • Facilitate reporting of ratings information to clients assessing the company’s financial strength
  • Lead financial and regulatory reporting activities related to capital structure and ratings
  • Support internal initiatives
  • Perform other related activities as required



Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:


  • 6+ years of experience with increasing responsibilities managing capital structure and rating agencies at complex financial organizations
  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline required; MBA, CPA, and/or CFA strongly preferred
  • Industry leading knowledge of financial markets and economics
  • Superior analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Professional depth in core areas of required expertise such as capital markets transactions, capital structure modeling, including extensive experience modeling balance sheets and statements of cash flow
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills with the ability to persuade, negotiate, and arbitrate to influence others to effect change and achieve desired results. Skillful management of relationships with people up, across and down the organization.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to consider multiple views while making business decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and people/project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Experience in corporate financial planning and analysis and/or corporate accounting, as well as treasury function, a plus
