We are currently seeking a Leader, Supply Chain Continuous Improvement for their business based in Herndon, VA. This role would also be located here. This position will is embedded in the Supply Chain organization and takes leadership and direction from the Director, Supply Chain. The Responsibilities Include:
The Leader, Supply Chain Lean/Continuous Improvement will:
Establish & implement the strategic and tactical direction for the Supply Chain Continuous Improvement function
Develop effective direct and indirect relationships to actively engage stakeholders in each regional / divisional organization
Serve as the Supply Chain Continuous Improvement mentor and thought leader
Lead Lean / Six Sigma projects - serve as the example of "how it's done" for the company
Develop, train and implement a comprehensive Lean / Six Sigma tool kit
Lead, manage, implement and expand business improvement processes throughout firm by utilizing Lean, Six Sigma and related disciplines
Assist divisional leaders to identify, screen, interview, and hire key lean divisional resources as required
Ensure the effective tracking and measurements necessary to effectively yield bottom line savings at the Branch, District, Region and Division level
Assist business leaders in selecting projects, project and team leaders, and champions that align with business/functional goals and strategies
Establish tools and techniques to quantify potential cost saving projects as well as initiate, implement, and track effective execution
Ensure project tracking dashboard and continuous improvement scorecard are maintained and results are communicated monthly
Communicate Continuous Improvement/Lean Distribution information and news to field personnel
Assist in the coordination and deployment of the Best Practices Improvement Plan
This is a very hands on position. This role goes into the branches divisionally, performs the 'gemba walks', performs the audits and implements and monitors the improvement processes.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Finance, Science or other technical discipline
Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive company programs and processes
Proven experience managing cost savings and yield improvement projects
7-15+ years of experience in leading significant continuous improvement projects or programs in a Lean - Six Sigma environment
Six Sigma Black Belt Certification OR
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to prioritize and drive multiple projects and project teams
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
Project management experience with the ability to understand and drive cost savings
Demonstrated leadership skills and process orientation
Strong ability to work in changing environment, see through complexity
Strong influencing and coaching skills. Proven experience in developing and coaching a team.
Ability to successfully operate in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.
Demonstrated successful experience working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team oriented culture.
Proven ability to think and act strategically, but also be willing to "roll up sleeves."
Willing to travel at least 50%.
