Licensed Practical Nurse


 A member of the health care team who provides pediatrics nursing care to clients, affording them the opportunity to remain at home and receive the medical care required.


Each Licensed Practical Nurse must:

  • Have a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state in which he or she works, and
  • Have at least one year of verifiable work experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and
  • Graduate of an accredited and approved nursing program as indicated by school transcript or diploma, and
  • Demonstrate an ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English, and
  • Achieve a passing score in written examinations, and
  • Have a criminal background check completed, and
  • Hold current CPR certification if providing care to pediatric clients.


Effective November 10, 2003,current CPR certification is also required for adult care nurses assigned to clients with tracheotomies or mechanical ventilation.* (Required by May 15, 2004 if hired prior to Nov. 10,2003).  State regulation and/or office specific policy may exceed this requirement.
