TIAA’s Production Services & Architecture (PS&A) team is responsible for all architecture, engineering and infrastructure operations of our core technology assets as part of a streamlined, strategic approach that ensures low cost, high quality delivery from initial architectural decisions through engineering to long-term operational support.  The PS&A team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.
As a Technical Lead for Linux Infrastructure you will have the opportunity to lead a Linux engineering team in an aggressive multi-site and multi datacenter enterprise environment. Your role will be primarily accountable for providing leadership and oversight of the Linux platform including operating systems and patch/security update management and administration. Your roll will also oversee and assist with on call tier three support related trouble shooting and issue management in an 24/7/365 environment.



  • Provide leadership and manage a technical engineering team overseeing the Linux platform including:
    • System performance tuning / TuneD
    • Enterprise wide Linux software installation and packaging
    • Puppet configuration management
    • Managing RedHat Satellite Server Storage allocation and (at the OS level)
    • Logical Volume Manager Administration
    • Active Directory Integration
    • Deploying approved release packages and break-fix solutions in accordance with all enterprise architecture and configuration, change, and release management policies and procedures
    • Developing and maintaining custom scripts and stored procedures to automate repetitive tasks and improve consistency in operations and maintenance activities
    • Creating documentation libraries and runbook procedures for L1 operations
  • Kickoff new projects with customers
  • Develop technical partnerships with key support, architecture, and operations teams
  • Coordinate with the operations team to act as an escalation point for all Tier 3 escalations
  • Interface with key vendors to support product offerings
  • Ensure high quality projects are delivered on time
  • Educate customers and provide a straightforward and clear roadmap for the Linux operating system
  • Manage, retain & grow enterprise relationships


Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer or Information Science
  • Ten or more years of information technology engineering and/or administration experience
  • Five or more years of Linux related experience, preferably Linux on Redhat
Preferred Experience
  • AWS public cloud experience
  • Container knowledge and work experience  
  • Experience in leading infrastructure development projects or software development projects
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service fundamentals
  • Expertise in Jira, Confluence, Visio, MS Office suite
  • Beyond Trust/Likewise
  • Veritas Cluster
  • GIT source control
