Low Voltage Assemblies Operations Manager

This position is responsible for leading the Low Voltage Assemblies manufacturing team in achieving quality, cost, delivery and employee safety goals.  Manages the Customer Order Engineering/Design, Customer Service, and Manufacturing functions of the Low Voltage Assemblies product line to achieve Sales Billed and Operating Profit objectives.  Operations must convert specific product designs into finished products that meet customer order requirements, product quality standards, and information/product delivery commitments. 

  • Establish operations strategic direction for product line considering the key business drivers of Customer Satisfaction, Growth and Innovation, Profitability and Asset Management, Perfect Quality and Excellence Through People.
  • Develop action plans and objectives from the operations strategic plan.  Cascade objectives throughout entire work force.
  • Responsible for deployment of MESH to support a Zero Incident Culture. 
  • Ensure required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to meet customer, manufacturing system and financial reporting requirements.
  • Plan and monitor key metrics to ensure quality, cost, delivery and safety requirements are met.
  • Co-ordinate manufacturing schedules and priorities within the production plan to satisfy customer requirements. 
  • Control in-process inventory to achieve production requirements with minimum impact on inventory levels. 
  • Direct application of capital and people resources to maximize operating efficiency. 
  • Facilitate problem-solving and corrective action for production issues.
  • Monitor performance to objectives, implementing responsive tactical changes as required.
  • Foster a relationship of teamwork throughout the operations of the plant.
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout the organization to reduce total cycle time.
  • Encourage innovative approaches to organization improvement.
  • Select and develop a staff to manage the product line.
  • Administer the Performance Management Process for the product line.
  • Establish and monitor safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Administer plants Human Resources policies and guidelines.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement Framework to drive CI initiatives throughout the LVA value stream including; Daily Accountability, Standard Work, Gemba Walks, etc.
  • Other duties, projects as assigned.

Position requires working knowledge of current manufacturing, engineering, materials/purchasing and quality assurance methods and practices.  A thorough understanding of financial practices and financial statements is required.  Administrative knowledge is required in information systems, human resources and in controlling key projects and plant initiatives.


In order to achieve the business’s primary objective, the incumbent must organize, develop and lead a strong cadre of managers.  Together, they must aggressively pursue plant objectives and must involve all plant employees working in concert towards well-defined and communicated goals and objectives. 


The incumbent must take a lead role in establishing and maintaining communication with employees at all levels, so as to insure a common understanding of issues facing the business and of the impact of the business’s performance in the key areas of quality, service, productivity improvement and asset management, and profit improvement. 


Change is inevitable and the incumbent must lead and communicate the change and must provide an atmosphere where all employees understand the need for change and willingly support the change process.  


The incumbent must accept the role as the driver for improvement and must insure that recognition and pay systems reward those who contribute the most.  The incumbent must also personally address issues of customer service and quality, as well as human resource issues facing employees of the business.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial management/technology, or business related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years manufacturing/operations experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Must be legally authorized in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsorship.

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Low Voltage Assemblies products preferred.
  • Ten (10) years manufacturing/operations experience required.
  • Five (3) years of leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Continuous improvement experience.
  • Ability to work in a PNL with strong business acumen.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience in working in electrical assemblies.
  • Experience working in an Engineer to Order (ETO) environment.
  • Six Sigma Certification or significant Lean Manufacturing Experience preferred.
