Job Description

The Extrusion Operator ,under the direction of the Production Shift Supervisor, will be responsible for learning to run an extrusion line(s) within their designated shift. The Extrusion Operator B will be required to learn and demonstrate considerable skills, knowledge and experience related to running an extrusion line and all associated equipment within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. The incumbent will display a commitment to Core Values.

Essential Functions Statement(s)


  • Contributes to accident free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations



  • Learns importance of and practice ownership of SUR (Scrap/Utilization/Rate) metrics and Quality results for assigned line(s)



  • Learns and practices starting, operating, maintaining and shutting down extrusion and down-line equipment



  • Completes daily duties in accordance with workplace organization and efficiency methodologies, such as TPM and 6S



  • Monitors performance of quality critical equipment and ensures that equipment operates to specifications



  • Assists with die changes and color changes



  • Learns and practices adherence to the Bills of Process (BOP) standards



  • Learns and accurately completes Quality Check paperwork every two hours



  • Learns and accurately completes hourly color checks



  • Learns and accurately completes hourly part checks



  • Learns and practices proper color set-point controls



  • Responsible for detailed completion of production operator reports



  • Learns and demonstrates identification of defects and completion of work orders for repair



  • Assists in packaging of product when needed



  • Operates in a manner that provides value to the team



  • Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management

  • Job Requirements High school diploma/GED required. Demonstrated understanding of how process equipment works; Strong decision making, analytical skills. Ability to work in an environment that can become very hot (temperature) depending on the weather.
