Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Inspect drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment, Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints (i.e., CAD drawings), repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary. Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions. Record maintenance and repair works performed and costs of the work. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Understanding of precision alignment.
Works cross functionally in other trade areas, such as electrician and HVAC. The multi-skilled trade job duties will include installing and repairing electrical machine tool systems, apparatuses, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, using electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications, when making installations and repairs. Uses hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment. Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers equipment. Repairs and replaces faulty electronic components. Replaces and/or repairs electric motors. In addition, multi-skilled trade also includes mounting compressor and condenser units on platform of floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications; cutting and bending tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools; cutting and threading pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment; connecting motors, compressors, control panels and connecting control panels to power source.
