Position Summary:
The Maintenance Campground Utility Worker ensures the campground is kept clean and well maintained. Utility Workers are flexible; willing to help out wherever needed, comfortable working outside in extreme heat conditions and committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service. General Utility Workers also provide a concierge service to guests as they are highly knowledgeable of property and the surrounding area.

Essential Functions:
  • General Utility Workers must be able to work physically hard, able to deal with constant bending and lifting
  • General Utility Workers must ensure cleanliness and pleasant atmosphere of the campground by removing trash and debris - cleaning all public areas. This includes but is not limited to cleaning: the parking lot, campground, campground store, laundry, and restrooms
  • Ensure glass doors, displays and insides of windows are clean and do not have smears on them
  • Remove cobwebs and clean all light fixtures
  • Deep clean all restrooms and showers
  • Ensure proper dilution and soap ratios to prevent wastage
  • Clean all tent sites, RV spaces and surrounding areas - removing any trash and debris
  • Help clean campground store
  • Handle recycling needs
  • Must have an eye for detail and presentation - to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness
  • Check tent sites and RV spaces prior to guests arriving
  • Read and record sewer boxes and electrical and RV space meter readings
  • General Utility Workers must fully utilize all safety equipment, ensuring proper lifting, bending and carrying techniques are adhered to
  • Understand all machinery and chemicals used
  • Be aware of MSDS sheets and books and read and use this information when necessary
  • Assist Trade position 1 employees with maintenance tasks and construction projects
  • Identify maintenance, cleanliness and safety issues and take the correct steps to correct them
  • General Utility Workers should be highly knowledgeable about the property and the surrounding areas; acting as a concierge resource for all guests. This includes but is not limited to: retail, the lodge, food & beverage opening hours and services, tours and activities and surrounding area amenities and activities such as other National Parks in The Grand Circle
  • May be required to help in the store as needed - stocking the shelves and assisting wherever needed
  • Order cleaning supplies as needed
  • Must be honest, dependable and forthright, with the ability to confidently work without direct supervision
  • Maintain a positive attitude - always be willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed
  • Go the extra mile and follow through to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Maintain positive attitude in high stress situations
  • Diplomatically handle guest complaints - always be polite and maintain a professional manner
  • Must be able to work with diverse populations in a supportive and positive manner
  • Must be flexible - willing to work a varied schedule
  • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy
  • Report to work on time and in complete uniform
  • Other duties as assigned

Status and Scope:
  • General Utility Workers report to The Campground Manager
  • General Utility Workers need to be comfortable working outdoors as they may encounter desert animals, which includes but is not limited to: mice, jack rabbits, snakes, bats etc...
  • General Utility Workers must be comfortable working long days in extreme heat
  • General Utility Workers must be comfortable being on their feet all day
General Utility Workers must be willing to gain an extensive knowledge of the local area to assist guests


  • Previous customer service and or Utility Worker experience preferred
  • Strong English communication skills are required
  • Must be over 18 years of age

Travel Requirements: Little or no travel required (less than 10%)

Lifting Requirements:
Medium - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
