Performs the most complex and difficult maintenance tasks utilizing advanced skill set in the majority of the following areas: pneumatics, PLC, machinery, welding, and electrical. Duties and Responsibilities :
- Participate in all safety and regulatory training needed to fulfill the duties of the position
- Follow all plant safety rules and regulations, wear PPE as required per procedures
- Performs all the duties of a Maintenance Mechanic in keeping equipment operational and processes going
- Troubleshoots difficult equipment issues using blueprints, equipment manuals and internet resources
- Directs the daily assignments of the Maintenance Mechanics
- Identifies training requirements of the Maintenance Mechanics. Trains as required or seeks proper training resources
- Assures that labor time is entered in maintenance work orders
- The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for identifying and properly managing hazardous waste in the work area according to the hazardous waste training provided
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designate
Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks. Receives directives from management and decides how to best carry out tasks and complete projects. Good communication skills, both written and verbal in the English language. Excellent math skills and complex blueprint reading, drawings, notes, and computer skills. Fully qualified pneumatics, PLC, machinery, welding, and electrical.Judgement:
Works on assignments requiring considerable judgement and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Manual Skill:
Set sensitive equipment instrumentation. Operate small hand tools and process equipment with dexterity.Materials & Products:
Use knowledge of the operation to prevent damage to materials and loss of production. Must understand set-up requirements and quality testing conducted on these products. Complex set-up and/or operation of equipment requiring frequent monitoring to maintain quality production. Potential for loss is high.Tools & Equipment:
Use good judgment to prevent damage to equipment, to understand equipment operation, and to be efficient. Potential for loss is high. .Mental Effort:
Constant and close attention to controlling machinery. Plan work methods according to product specifications. Ensure proper procedures are applied.Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Surroundings:
Exposure to wet and /or humid conditions. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.Hazards:
Moderate hazard exposure for major accidents. Exposure to moving equipment. Injury of cuts and bruises may occur if safety rules are not followed. Appropriate PPE required when handling chemicals (i.e., faceshield, rubber gloves, apron, respirator - Organic Vapor Mask training is a requirement).
