PRIMARY DUTIES: Keeps machinery, equipment, and plant structure in operating condition.
NORMAL SEQUANCE: Such plant equipment incudes battery manufacturing equipment of all types and plant utilities. Repairs machines, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and fits replacement parts, and/or makes replacement parts as required. Checks and repairs test instruments. May be required to do electrical, plumbing, heating, and roofing repairs. Moves equipment to new locations. Adjusts machines for production when adjustment is beyond scope of the operator. Installs new equipment including hook up of electrical power, gas, water, air, etc. Maintains and installs piping, fittings, valves, gauges, and all types of controls for gyfraulic systems, gas, and air lines. May be required to set up and operate one or all of the following machines: lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinder, power saws, welder, etc., and inprovises where equipment is limited. Designs and builds small tools and fixtures from sketches or verbal instrucstions. Makes periodic checks of machines and equipment and performs preventive maintenance: oils, cleans, greases, etc., performs carpentry and sheet metal work in fabricating and repairing benches, guards, boxes, trays, etc. Makes sketches for and builds racks, bins, shelves, and other aids to production.
May work under direction and supervision on complex or intricate repairs. Able to do minor repairs with a minimum of supervision.
Required to provide hand tools and equipment to perform normal maintenance tasks.
SUPERVISION: Supervised by maintenance supervisor, maintenance work leader, or may be directed by Maintenance Mechanic A
