Risk Management – Captives Team

The Manager - Captive Operations – Finance and Cash Management will report to the Director – Captive Operations. The Manager will have primary responsibility for managing the investments and cash needs of four captive insurance companies. The manager will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining the financial budgets and cash forecasts for the four captive entities. The Manager will ensure the captives comply with the investment policy approved by the captives board of directors and will coordinate investment purchases and sales with the investment managers, trustees and custodians. The Manager will also develop and maintain cash flow and profit and loss forecasts for the Captives as well as monitor and explain any deviations from budget and income targets. The incumbent will participate in and may lead ad hoc projects with significant financial impacts.

  • Oversees Captive investment portfolios, including being the primary interface with the Investment Manager (VIMCO), the Sub-Manager (Standish-Mellon), Trustees (e.g. BONY) and Custodians (e.g. Mellon).
  • Coordinates all collateral requirements for the Captives, including Trusts and Letters of Credit.
  • Ensures compliance with the Investment Policy as well as the investment guidelines for each individual trust.
  • Prepares cash management forecasts and coordinates bank wires, ACH’s and the movement of cash and securities between bank accounts and trust accounts
  • Ensures each captive entity has sufficient cash to meet its operating cash requirements
  • Prepares and submits to Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Captive budgets, including commitment views, best views, variance analyses, etc.
  • Prepares miscellaneous regulatory and corporate tax related analyses, including affiliated interest inquires, etc.
  • Evaluates and maximizes investments in loans to the parent company
  • Maintains investment portfolio ratios to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal targets
  • Provides support to or leads special projects related to the captive’s finances

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance required
  • Six years of corporate finance or risk management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of insurance accounting and tax rules,
  • Demonstrated experience in capital and expense budgeting, cash forecasting, variance analyses and financial modeling.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to engage with diverse professional disciplines in order to achieve results

Even better if you have:

  • MBA with a concentration in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • CPA or CFA certification
  • Prior experience working with captive insurance companies
  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable with presenting to executives
