Risk Management - Casualty Insurance Program

The Manager of Casualty Programs will report to the Director - Risk Management & Insurance and will have overall responsibility for managing the casualty programs’ insurance renewal and administration. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong presentation skills. This position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Primary & Excess Casualty programs including Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Automobile Liability, Railroad Protective Liability, Umbrella & Excess Casualty programs
  • Manage Production Insurance Program and all inquiries from the field about coverage

  • Pursue coverage for Product Recall, liaising with various business units and evaluating the need in the business for the coverage

  • Handle renewal and administration of the Business Travel Accident program

  • Oversee preparation and verify the submission to insurance carriers, including $15 billion in payroll data for 160,000 employees, vehicle information for 30,000 automobiles, and other exposure information for numerous Verizon subsidiaries

  • Create renewal presentations to senior management; prepare annual presentation to New York, London, and Bermuda markets

  • Negotiate policy wording & suggest improvements to program structure and terms/conditions

  • Manage Risk Management Information Systems

  • Manage Primary and Excess Casualty audit process

  • Supervise several outside contractors and insurance brokers in accomplishing Risk Management objectives

  • Maintain historical data on all programs and receipt of billing and documentation related to programs’ placement

  • Oversee review of vendor & supplier contracts to ensure adequate protection for the company

  • Provide support to or lead special projects

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • Six years work experience in a corporate risk management department or commercial insurance brokerage firm or related position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong social interaction skills
  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable with presenting to executives

Even better if you have:

  • Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent
  • A professional certification (e.g. ARM, CPCU, CPA, CFA).
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships across teams (e.g. Legal, Environmental Health & Safety, Sourcing, Operations, Insurers and Brokers).
