The Manager, Epidemiology Analytics will be a member of the Epidemiology Analytics team.  Epidemiology Analytics supports the Janssen Research and Development organization, and others within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies by generating and disseminating real-world evidence about disease, health service utilization, and the effects of medical products through the analysis of healthcare data.  Epidemiology Analytics also collaborates with broader international research community to establish and promote best practices in the appropriate use of observational data by conducting methodological research, developing standardized analytics tools and demonstrating successful applications to important clinical questions.  The Manager, Epidemiology Analytics will provide technical support for the data and analysis infrastructure used within the Epidemiology department, scientific support for conducting observational research in collaboration with epidemiologists and product teams, and will aid in the dissemination of scientific information through technical reports and publications in peer-reviewed literature.  The person in this position works closely with colleagues in the Epidemiology group to carry out analyses to address a wide variety of research questions across different therapeutic areas and throughout the product development lifecycle.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing direct analysis programs against in-house observational data resources, including administrative healthcare claims, surveys, and electronic health records, as well as consultation and support to evaluate data external to J&J.
  • The 3 specific types of projects that this position will be responsible for include:  (1) protocol-based observational studies:  participate in the design of a study protocol, develop code sets for clinical team approval, implement the analysis plan by writing and executing statistical programs across our available observational databases, conduct quality assurance review of programming code and data, draft an analysis report, and support the final publication/presentation of results as part of an overall observational study activity. (2) standardized analytics tools:  design and develop applications to enable systematic analysis across networks of observational databases that improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of research processes. (3) observational data acquisition, evaluation, and standardization: support the enterprise-level lifecycle of observational database access, by identifying potential databases that could be licensed or accessed through distributed partnerships; conducting data quality assessments to gauge utility of data sources for specific analysis use cases; designing and developing extract/transform/load procedures to standardize databases into the OMOP common data model; and integrating new data assets into our research infrastructure and portfolio of standardized analytics tools.
