Job Summary:

The Fraud Manager supports Capital One Investing in detecting unusual or suspicious activity in a timely manner in an effort to safeguard the integrity of the firm, ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and minimize fraud losses.

This individual will manage various fraud operations processes including fraud investigations, fraud detection and prevention, transaction monitoring, and working with law enforcement. They are responsible for ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, and the workflow of fraud investigations and Suspicious Activity Report referrals.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record of building effective teams and using sound business judgment to plan and execute on critical performance metrics and contributing to strategic projects. You will need to work independently to continually improve the program, anticipate changes in the business or regulatory environment and develop plans to proactively address. Strategic project contributions include input on implementation of new product offerings and assessing fraud risk.  


-Manage a team of 5-10 fraud investigators
-Supervise the daily workflow of Fraud Operations including Suspicious Activity Report referrals, fraud alerts and surveillance, investigation documentation, or other fraud processes

-Focus on minimizing operational and fraud risk

-Participate in projects in a fraud advisory capacity 

-Handle escalated fraud issues to minimize customer and/or business impact and fraud losses

-Ensure department compliance with Suspicious Activity Reporting and Elder Abuse reporting deadlines

-Assess internal and external fraud trends to make recommendations on additional controls

-Conduct fraud training across the business

-Produce monthly/quarterly fraud loss reporting  

-Travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities

-Leadership skills including verbal/non-verbal communication

-Experience managing a fraud or AML investigations team

-Ability to research and make appropriate decisions regarding complex cases

-Ability to present ideas and information across all levels effectively

-Experience with User Acceptance Testing

-In-depth knowledge of BSA/SAR Filing requirements and investigation workflows

-Experience working with law enforcement

-Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

-Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)


-Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
-At least 5 years of fraud experience or at least 5 years of AML investigation experience

-At least 2 years experience in the preparation of SARS for law enforcement purposes

-At least 3 years experience in people management

-At least 2 years of financial services investigations experience or at least 2 years of financial services operations experience

-Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

-Master’s Degree

-5+ years of brokerage investigations experience or 5+ years of brokerage operations experience
-1+ year of operational risk experience

-FINRA Series 7

-FINRA Series 63

-Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
