Amgen is looking for a Manager Manufacturing. This Manager Manufacturing, Planning and Scheduling, will lead a team of Planners and Schedulers responsible for supporting Epogen® (EPO) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) commercial manufacturing at Thousand Oaks B7.
The Manager Manufacturing and team will be responsible for manufacturing plant finite scheduling, maintenance planning and scheduling and work order administration. The manager and his/her team will also provide manufacturing ownership and support for electronic systems such as MES and Electronic Batch Records (EBR). The Manager Manufacturing will be an active participant and role model in Lean culture and continuous improvement.
Responsible for staff selection, training, oversight, coaching, performance evaluations and development
Collect data, report metrics, identify trends, evaluate risks and drive action on conditions or behaviors that could impact the quality and success of the manufacturing operations
Represent the manufacturing organization at cross functional meetings and forums
Utilize operational excellence methods to optimize manufacturing and maintenance planning and scheduling, including facility shutdown project work
Work with the utilities teams, engineering teams and facilities maintenance to drive implementation of predictive maintenance and data analysis tools to optimize preventative maintenance frequencies and requirements
Facilitate the coordination, creation, and optimization of Job Plans and Work Orders
Manage the Work Order administration, planning and scheduling process for a 24/7 commercial manufacturing and utilities operation
Facilitate communication between work order planning, scheduling, inventory control and vendor deliveries
Facilitate communication between manufacturing and supply chain. Ensure overall supply plan per the Master Production Schedule is executed and communicated, as well as, ensure material deliveries and pickups are executed per plan
Ensure the plant finite schedule and other communication tools are optimized to increase performance of the operations team
Work with system owners and specialists to coordinate execution of non-routine tasks, validation, and projects
Provide MES support for the manufacturing team and facilitate the transition from paper batch records to electronic batch records
Coordinate lot packages, LIMS samples and process orders to facilitate production activities
Coordinate the various aspects of manufacturing plant shutdowns and manage overall scope and schedule
Master's degree and 3 years of Manufacturing experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Manufacturing experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Manufacturing experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Manufacturing experience
Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
9+ years of related manufacturing, facilities maintenance, or engineering experience
3+ years of experience in project management, planning, or scheduling roles
Solid understanding of Maximo, Microsoft Project and MES functionalities
Solid understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and procedures used in support of commercial manufacturing
Project management and presentation skills
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
