Senior Manager, Public Relations, Corporate Communications

Position Purpose:

The Senior Public Relations Manager at Fiserv is a key member of the Corporate Communications team and responsible for strategic communications management, and developing and driving integrated programs and enterprise public relations activities to shape a favorable perception of our brand and assigned business units and functional areas. Working closely with leaders, product experts and the corporate communications team, the Senior Manager will build plans and programs, identify opportunities and storylines, formulate messaging, and strategically secure and measure external coverage across multimedia and international news outlets. The position requires a strong background in corporate communications / public relations; excellent media relations, writing and communication skills; and the ability to work across the organization and in collaboration with global clients and resources to create successful outcomes. Experience in financial services and technology is preferable.

Essential Job Responsibilities:  

  • Translate business priorities into communication strategies and develop and execute media relations programs to support goals, distinguish our value in the market, and raise visibility for the overall brand and assigned business units and spokespeople
  • Initiate and manage effective media relations projects and campaigns, leveraging multiple channels and elements such as news releases, bylines and features, interviews and press tours, trade shows and events, and social platforms
  • Establish effective relationships with internal clients, communication counterparts and key functional areas to conceptualize storylines, drive thought leadership and amplify messages platforms and business news
  • Manage vendors and agencies in planning, executing and reporting on assigned work for cross-functional stakeholders and programs, ensuring effective use of resources in driving measurable results and successful outcomes
  • Identify story opportunities and collaborate with corresponding spokespersons and approvers on messaging and delivery approach
  • Build on Fiserv media relationships, serving as a credible and responsive source of information, arranging interviews and briefings, and managing on-site PR for trade events and opportunities
  • Stay informed about news and trends relevant to our industry, and work cross-functionally with research and marketing partners to proactively leverage data and insights
  • Work with Corporate Communications to manage all aspects of content development, from information gathering and writing to reviews and delivery in various formats, including new agreements and announcement press releases, editorial and byline articles, customer case examples and stories, backgrounders, executive and spokesperson biographies, scripts, Q&As, and multimedia assets
  • Represent communications as a valued advisor and professional, cultivating a favorable reputation among stakeholders for reliability, creativity, accuracy and quality
  • Prepare status updates and reports to share results with Fiserv associates and executives and maintain regular cadence to assess and adjust plans

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or similar field
  • Minimum of 8-15 years of public relations (PR) experience
  • Corporate and/or agency public relations and media relations experience
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills and extensive content development experience for multiple communication channels and vehicles
  • Familiar with traditional and social media platforms and media analysis services
  • Excellent project management skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to develop, execute and measure results of communication programs
  • Build relationships and exhibit professionalism with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work with information requiring discretion and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within financial services or technology desired
  • Background working with a global business and publicly traded company 
  • Self-starter, able to analyze input and initiate and share ideas to successfully lead communication efforts in a team environment

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interpret or explain data or information to develop messaging
  • Experience working and collaborating across business units or teams
  • Adaptable to change and willing to learn and grow as team and business needs evolve
  • Use independent judgment to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Follow brand and corporate identity standards and trademarks and review and reporting processes
