We are seeking a Manager of the Women's Health Unit
at Johnston-Willis Hospital.
The Women's Health Unit at Johnston-Willis is a 15 bed gynecological medical surgical unit. Most of our patients are post-operative surgical, with 50% of the unit made up of gynecological oncology patients. The robotics program on the unit is robust; we are proud that Johnston-Willis Hospital has been named a da Vinci Center of Excellence.
Our compassionate and committed Registered Nurses are skilled in caring for patients who are experiencing women's health conditions and who are undergoing or recovering from both surgical and non-invasive procedural procedures. Our patients' average length of stay is 4 days. The pace on the unit is fast; on a typical day we might start with 15 patients, discharge 10, and get 10 more in from the OR that same day. Patient nurse ratio is 4:1 on the unit.
The Women's Health clinical team consists of a mix of new graduates who have completed our renowned StaRN Nurse Residency Program and who are still in orientation, to tenured nurses who have been on the unit 30 years. The environment is very supportive and team-oriented, one where our nurses and physicians work together closely to assure our patients' care is exemplary.

Specific elements and essential functions of the Manager of the Women's Health Unit are listed below; those functions with an (*) are essential functions considered necessary to accomplish this job.
*1. Manages the fiscal and clinical operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number of qualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.
*2. Integrates department services with the hospitals primary function maintaining communication with medical and nursing staffs, Administration, patients and their families/significant other. Coordinates and integrates services within departments.
*3. Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services. Supervises nursing staff and assures staff competency.
*4. Conducts ongoing assessment and improvement of the department's performance. Promotes the Quality Management program of the facility maintaining appropriate quality control programs (where applicable).
5. Assists the Director to develop, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space and resources needed. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.
*6. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
*7. Develops goals and objectives for assigned area(s) of responsibility and participates in development of goals and objectives for the Nursing Department.
*8. Provides for orientation, inservice training, and continuing education for persons in the department.
9. Assumes the duties of the Administrative Nursing Supervisor as assigned.Qualifications: EDUCATION:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider required.
- Five (5) years of current nursing experience required.
- Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience required.
- Nursing management or nursing leadership experience preferred.
