Manager Science & Analytics

Job Summary

The Avis Budget Science & Analytics team is looking for individuals who can lead, collaborate, innovate, and thrive in the fast-paced, dynamic mobility industry. The Manager Science & Analytics is a key partner for Pricing, Fleet, Marketing, Finance, and other teams (henceforth, “business teams”) in helping them and the organization advance business objectives. As a trusted adviser and innovative thinker, the Manager S&A enables sound, data-driven decisions throughout the organization. The Manager S&A influences decisions through understanding the business opportunities, contributing a unique analytic thought process, developing solid science/analytics solutions, and presenting complex analytics findings in a clear, concise manner driving toward actionable insights and ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Developing strong relationships and establishing trusted adviser status with business teams
  • Leading a team that designs/builds analytics tools, performs data analysis, supports/enhances decision support systems, and extracts business insights
  • Providing a critical eye towards analysis/recommendations and helping business teams translate them into definitive actions
  • Assisting business teams with change management associated with science and analytics innovation
  • Developing team member's skills to align with roles, job functions, and career potential
  • Staying abreast of science/analytics and industry technology trends/advancements
  • Continually looking for and identifying opportunities for science/analytics to support corporate objectives
  • Distilling complex analytics findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights
  • Managing competing priorities through ability to identify highest value/impact/visibility opportunities
  • Casting a strategic vision of where the organization can go with future science/analytics solutions

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or similar); Bachelor's degree with comparable experience will be considered
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and problem solving skills
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., VB/VBA, Java, C/C++), databases queries (e.g., Oracle, SQLServer, Access), statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R), and/or optimization packages (e.g., CPLEX, GAMS, OPL, FICO® Xpress/DASH)
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience designing and developing science/analytics solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good business acumen and instinct
  • Previous supervisor experience preferred, but not required

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel is required.
