Great - and always improving – production support strategies are an essential ingredient of our current and future success.  We are actively seeking talented system support and engineering specialists who can own support of applications and systems in production and can drive reliability and performance across a massive scale by mastering the full depth of the stack. As an engineering-focused Production Support Manager, you will have the opportunity to tackle complex problems of scale which are unique to tech companies while using your expertise in delivery and support of mission critical services. - Lead a team to design, write and deliver technical and process automation to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Capital One’s services

- Drive incident resolution and supporting production system deployments while ensuring SLAs are met

- Progress, protect, and provide for the software and systems behind all of Capital One’s external and internal customer facing services with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, latency, performance, and capacity

- Collaborate with other tech leads and support teams to ensure integrated end-to-end availability, reliability, and performance

- Empower support teams to manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines

- Influence resiliency and scalability in production environments in Amazon Web Services
 and other cloud platforms

- Equip systems with automated monitoring and alerting

- Solve problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence; with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions

- Influence and support new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems

- Engage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning

- Identify and remediating risk to critical and non-critical system KPIs

- ETL Experts for projects being transitioned to our team for production support, including but not limited to: Ab Initio batch transformation processes, SQL database management, and Teradata and Big Data database population.

- Systematic problem solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive

- Expertise with automation of routine maintenance tasks and common issues

- Lead production support teams for application or batch support. (Hadoop, HDFS, Map Reduce, Pig, Hive, Core Java, Teradata, Ab Initio)

- Networking: knowledge and understanding of network theory, such as different protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc), MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing)

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

- At least 7 years of leading production support teams for application support or at least 7 years of leading batch support

- At least 5 years of Database support on Oracle or at least 5 years of SQL Server support or at least 5 years of PostgreSQL support or at least 5 years of MongoDB support

- At least 3 years of experience in supporting highly available production systems on Data center and at least 1 year of experience in supporting highly available productions systems on Cloud (AWS)

- At least 5 years of experience with Unix system internals and networking

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree

- 3+ years of experience in open stack administration or 3+ years of Python or 3+ years of Ruby or 3+ years of Go or 3+ years of Javascript or 3+ years of NoSQL or 3+ years of Hadoop or 3+ years of Map Reduce or 3+ years of Pig or 3+ years of Hive or 3+ years of Core java or 3 + years of Teradata or 3+ years of Ab Initio

- 1+ year of experience in AWS cloud services configuration and administration or 1+ year of  Splunk or 1+ year of Blue Stripe or 1+ year of Zabbix monitoring
