Manager, Tech SOX Operations & Governance

Capital One – a top 10 US bank using technology to bring ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity to banking – needs SOX Operations managers to help drive its transformation. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of 2-4 associates focused on driving high quality execution of our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls for 1-2 LOBs.You will work side-by-side with product owners and other Agile team members who are identifying ways to improve SOX processes through the use of technology and implementation of industry best practices.And you will do it all in an environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation!

Responsibilities:
- Ensure high quality SOX controls execution by enhancing our first line of defense

-Support our SOX control performers and executives with appropriate consulting, training, and awareness of control testing

-Monitor SOX controls for gaps and weaknesses

-Partner with SOX performers to assess impact, formulate remediation plans, and drive closure when issues are identified; Consult on on-going improvements to control design & process

-Regularly looks for ways to help the team meet commitments

-Assist process owners in the development of controls to mitigate technology risks on key initiatives

-Look for opportunities to automate manual technology controls

-Coordinate with other Agile teams to escalate and/or resolve impediments, dependencies, risks/issues

-Leverage data to measure & monitor progress against commitments

- Foster a culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement

(NOTE: This team will ultimately expand beyond SOX to other control areas; but this will be our initial focus.)

Ourideal candidate:
- Can quickly build an understanding of LOB applications & technologies

- Can deliver process management outputs and drive improved execution

- Can demonstrate SOX, Compliance, Risk, and/or Audit experience

- Familiar with ITIL Service Management principles, including Change Management and Access and Identity Management principles

- Familiar with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Cloud computing (AWS operations)

- Understands application development and operation support in a DevOps environment

- Strong communication skills coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement

- Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals

- Enjoys being on high profile projects

- Embodies sound judgment

-Motivated by delivering solutions on an aggressive schedule

-Regularly looks for ways to roll up your sleeves to help the team meet commitments

-Has a knack for spotting and resolving ambiguity

-Enjoys learning new things

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

- At least 5 years of professional work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Information Technology

- Certifications including CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, ITIL Foundations v3, IIA CRMA

- 2 years of experience in IT development or support

- 2+ years of experience in financial services

- 1+ year of experience in consulting
