What's a Lumber Mill?
Lumber mill workers make lumber from raw logs. They sort the logs into different sizes and kinds of wood. In the lumber mill they saw and cut the logs into various widths and lengths. Some workers may prepare rough lumber for industrial use. Other workers prepare lumber for dispatch to planing or plywood mills. Because lumber mills are sometimes called sawmills, lumber mill workers may be called sawmill workers.
Job description:
Worker will pull and stack lumber/boards in carts according to grade as boards move down a conveyor chain. Worker will stand at assigned station on conveyor chain pulling / placing / or stacking boards by grade into carts. The carts are located directly behind or on the side of the worker. The boards are 6,8,10 and 12 ft. in length. 90 % of boards are 1 inch thick and 10 % are 8/4 thickness. The worker slides boards off conveyor chain using both hands as instructed, wearing PPE at all times. Worker will place boards in cart with a minimum amount of walking.
Hours are: 5:30AM - 2:00PM 0r 6:00AM - 2:30PM (OT occasionally).
Pay: $12.50 per hour-Weekly pay
Requirements:
* 7 year background check
* Drug screen (6 panel)
* Steel Toe Boots
* Able to lift 50 pound (maximum)
