Eaton has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer located in Reno, NV.
 
This position will support engineering needs for the production department and identify process and continuous improvement initiatives through the use of lean manufacturing, six sigma and other team-based, structured problem solving methods. This position will perform engineering tasks related to product and process time standards, production and manpower planning, capital projects and process design, startup and modification.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Interface directly with all levels of manufacturing and product engineering, and be responsible for process improvements and controls, machine capacity/capability studies, equipment selection and qualification, and adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing equipment issues, and write engineering documents to support changes.
  • Assist in design, maintenance and interpretation of meaningful and accurate performance measurement systems to increase production efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Design, procure, and implement fabrication, fixture and manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify and meet the need for application of lean manufacturing/continuous improvement methods, including development and execution of productive maintenance and corrective and preventative action plans & systems.
  • Enforce and implement safety policies and programs, meet operating budgets, complete continuous improvement plans, and coach employees on behavior/performance issues and initiate disciplinary actions if required.
  • Additional related duties as required.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Relocation is not being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50 mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, or related field of study.
  • 7 + years of related experience including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams of considerable size, scope and complexity in a manufacturing environment.
  • SAP business system experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Foundational knowledge of lean principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Lean or six sigma training or certifications.
