Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA) has partnered with Tesla Motors, Inc. to construct a large-scale advanced battery manufacturing facility known as the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada. Panasonic's role in the Gigafactory will be to manufacture and supply cylindrical lithium-ion cells and based on the battery demand from Tesla, the Gigafactory is planned to produce 35GWh of cells, which will double the world’s current production!

Designs processes and develops processes for manufacturing Li-ion Batteries and related products by performing the following duties .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs process design work for the battery production
· Conducts research to develop new and improved manufacturing.
· Oversees workers engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out battery manufacturing processes on commercial scale.
· Analyzes operating procedures and equipment and machinery functions to reduce processing time and cost.
· Designs and plans measurement and control systems for manufacturing processes based on data collected in laboratory experiments and pilot plant operations.
· Determines most effective arrangement of unit operations exercising judgment to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health hazards.
· Establishes procedures for operators and machine keepers to use in the manufacturing processes for the manufacturing of Li-ion cells.
· Performs tests and takes measurements throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over process variables.
· Applies principles of chemical engineering to solve environmental problems.
Manages others. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems following the company's established Policies and Procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering) from four-year college or university and 5 or more years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
