The scope of this role includes BTL / LMW IT Leader for Depuy Synthes SC Joint Reconstruction manufacturing sites: Raynham, MA / Warsaw, IN / Cork, Ireland / Blackpool, UK / Leeds, UK.  Act as strategic partner for business leadership teams and external customers; Define technology strategy and negotiate technology options with business partners; Responsible for DPS Factory, Make Data & Analytics, Visualization, Simulation and modeling, Enterprise Recipe Management, Factory 4.0 / Internet of Things / Advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., robotics, 3D printing). Act as a single point of contact and is the only gate for non-trivial activities to IT for business.  This role is a member of the DPS SC Make IT Leadership team and DPS SC Make Joint Recon Leadership team.

 

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities – Approx. Percentage of Time

  • 65% - LMW IT Leader: Manufacturing Technology Owner (MTO) IT Strategy for Joint Recon sites including decommissioning: Sets a clear vision for leveraging global solutions for all the platforms and is responsible for multi-generation product strategy; Maximizes ROI by identifying and prioritizing the product features by business value; MTO IT Operations for Joint Recon sites: Owns the end to end IT operations for all the Platforms (and all the plants & labs), External Manufacturing to ensure that IT services fully support the operations at the platform and associated plants / labs; Business IT interface: Understand the business’s needs and priorities from the platform / plant; Negotiate with the business to see what items (story points) are built and which are backlogged based on capacity; Accountable for the development work getting done correctly; Business requirements analysis: Develops acceptance criteria; Understands development estimates and how levels of effort impact the priority of requirements; Program and Service oversight: Tracks progress of product development in the context of the larger program (scrum master owns day to day burn down charts); Reports back to the business on status on the delivery of features, functionality, and applications; Has a combination of global and regional accountability depending on product line scope; Ensures standards processes and frameworks are leveraged to deliver programs on the goals and services are delivered per SLA.
  • 15% - Business Transformation Leadership: “Technology strategist” who spans multiple technology solutions – including defining technology strategy for business partners, Manage business expectations and keep business aligned to business requirements, Understands competition and how they use technology, Oversees internal and external collaborations; Business Transformation leverages latest technologies such as IoT, Factory 4.0 to transform manufacturing and lab operations
  • 10% - DPS SC Make IT Leadership: Member of DPS SC Make IT Leadership team – responsibilities include definition and implementation of DPS SC Make IT strategy in alignment with JJSC, DPS SC and IT Strategies, deployment of IT enterprise capabilities, People strategies (Talent Recruitment, Retention, Development, Diversity & Inclusion, and Credo culture), Financials (including LRFP, OPEX, CAPEX budgeting, and controls, CAR management), Quality Compliance and Risk Management.
  • 10% - DPS SC Make Joint Recon Leadership: IT representative in Make Joint Recon leadership team to drive IT enabled transformation of Lab and Manufacturing operations across all sectors. Enables the strategic transformation of Make technologies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of Supply chain technology expertise
  • A minimum of 2 years of MES experience
  • Expertise in one or more data & advanced analytics technologies
  • Experience working in a global environment and managing teams across multiple countries
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Has deep understanding in business needs analysis, manufacturing processes and/or supply chain processes
  • Experience effectively collaborating and managing stakeholders
  • Knowledge of all IT aspects including design, architecture, development, and IT infrastructure
  • Able to synthesize leadership and stakeholder inputs into product decisions for team
  • Drive application rationalization and application leverage across multiple functions
  • Work closely with sector PLOs to leverage capabilities across multiple sectors and functions to drive high level of reuse
  • Experience working in a Shared Services IT Operating model where development and support services are provided by shared services organizations that support multiple functional and organizational units
  • Key competencies: Tech-based innovation (Technology Trends, IT Product Expertise), Business & data analytics (Data Management, Data Driven Insights), IT planning & portfolio management (Planning, Program / Project Management), Architecture (Enterprise Architecture, Solution & Implementation Architecture), Development & Maintenance (Development, Support, and Integration), Service operations (ITIL, Information Security, GxP, Continuous Improvement)
  • Up to 40% travel may be required

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • APICS certification
  • Provides thought leadership for complex business problems that require a scientific approach by leveraging in-depth domain expertise and skills acquired in computational and Data Science specific programs or related fields
  • Designs experiments to test generated hypotheses to provide business insights
  • Apply advanced analytics  such as machine learning and artificial intelligence  for signal detection, pattern recognition, computational learning, cognitive and predictive decision support algorithms to solve complex problems
  • Leverage advanced analytics and visualization tools and technologies such as R, Python, Hadoop, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience with Visualization, Simulation and modeling, Enterprise Recipe Management, Factory 4.0 / Internet of Things / Advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., robotics, 3D printing)
  • Integrate and leverage data for analytics from a variety of data sources including structured, unstructured, voice, image, video and streaming data
  • Experience in advanced supply chain and information technologies such as virtual infrastructure, cloud, data & advanced analytics, automation and execution systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of healthcare, business theory, processes, management, budgeting and business / supply chain operations.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, strong knowledge of core technical platforms.
  • Extensive experience in supporting manufacturing and lab operations.
  • knowledge of technical engineering best practices,
  • Experience with agile methodology – for SAP / ERP projects and/or Supply Chain projects such as planning, manufacturing
  • Managing SAP platforms and services, Manufacturing Systems
  • Key competencies: Knowledge of business (Supply Chain and/or Healthcare business), External partner management, , IT Infrastructure (Cloud, Platform, Physical hardware / data center environment)
