Manage and ensure performance, efficiency, and product quality standards are met for assigned manufacturing area.  Drive safety and quality first culture.  Provide guidance to manufacturing supervisors regarding the coordination of department standards with overall plant objectives.  Provide budgetary input in regards to equipment/staffing needs, etc.  Monitor output, cycle times, routings, and quality indicators for assigned manufacturing area.  Resolve issues that arise and reinforce positive findings with teams and supervisors.  Work with other department managers such as QA, Production, Planning etc. to resolve difficult or recurring productivity problems.  Ensure supervisors and employees are trained and evaluated on safety procedures and policies.  Emphasize importance of maintaining and operating equipment and keeping work areas clean from debris.  Respond to and report on injuries, investigate cause and recommend means to prevent re-occurrence.   Assess quality of product during various stages of production for the area supervised.  Communicate issues to appropriate staff to make adjustments or corrections.  Take corrective action on issues and engage appropriate departments to resolve issues.


Physical Demands:  Job requires ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and ability to distinguish color variation. Must be able to bend, twist and turn occasionally.  Two-handed operation required to operate personal computer frequently. Required to stand and move about the facility frequently.  Hearing protection and safety toe shoes/boots are required on the production floor.


Punctual, regular attendance is an essential job function of employment with the Company.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have a complete understanding of P&L responsibilities, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Requires a general knowledge of procedures for estimating, order entry, job processing, production capabilities, costing and billing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Requires a good general knowledge of all pre-press, press, die-cutting, bindery/finishing operations and the specific requirements for all supplies and materials.
  • Requires the ability to efficiently operate a computer and to understand and correctly use the various items on the menu.
  • A high degree of tact and diplomacy are needed because of frequent contact with sales, customers, vendors and company personnel.
  • Must be self-motivated and driven individual who is willing to take the initiative. Must be a leader and believe in strong commitment to values.
  • Must be willing to make difficult (possibly unpopular) decisions. Approachable with ego in check; flexible; high energy level; and integrity beyond reproach.
  • Must have 2-5 years demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Must be able to work any hours, including weekends, as needed to get the job done.

Required Experience

  • A Bachelors Degree or equivalent, preferably in Engineering, Business or Manufacturing Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing management, preferably in commercial print.
