In January 2016, MetLife announced a plan to pursue the separation of a substantial portion of its U.S. Retail segment. Once separated, the new business will be called Brighthouse Financial.

Participation in the internship opportunity within the Marketing & Branding department will help you develop the practical skills and experience associated with financial services marketing. Your role in the department will involve working alongside numerous marketing disciplines including creative, digital, product and communications. With a fast-paced but collaborative environment, Brighthouse Financial is a great place to further your professional development.


This is a 10 week paid internship opportunity available to UNC Charlotte students.  The program begins June 5, 2017 and ends August 11, 2017. Full time opportunities may be made available to qualified applicants as availability allows upon graduation.



  • Participate in departmental orientation and other developmental opportunities offered throughout the program
  • Assist with various initiatives and projects to ensure achievement of departmental goals and objectives
  • Gain exposure to a variety of areas within the business to understand how they fit together to achieve business goals and objectives  
  • Perform various assigned duties that are intended to provide experience and build skills for future development
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation at close of the internship


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to review, research and provide input on materials
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn other programs as needed
  • Ability to assist in managing a project from beginning through completion
  • Understanding of and interest in the financial services industry
