PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Material Planning Specialist is responsible for managing the supply of key raw materials, primarily batch and/or chemicals, to support the plants' production plans and to meet inventory targets. The Material Planning Specialist is also responsible for managing several 3rd Party Subcontracting relationships including raw material procurement, production planning and the shipment of finished goods to our customers.
In addition, the Material Planning Specialist is responsible for generating and analyzing data to support the GRS Americas demand forecasting process. This position is responsible for managing and continuously improving an 18 month rolling forecast for the Americas. Knowledge of forecasting techniques and best practices is critical to this role.
Reports to: The position directly reports to the GRS Americas S&OP/Sourcing Lead and is a key member of various cross-functional teams focused on enhancing our order fulfillment process
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Managing Daily Sourcing Operations
  • Acts as a liaison between production planning, operations, and external suppliers in managing the supply of raw materials
  • Creates and confirms purchase orders and stock transport orders to manage movement of materials
  • Maintains and manages supply-demand balances and inventory levels of key raw materials
  • Develops and provides forecasts of key raw materials to external suppliers
  • Communicates finished goods demand to our 3rd Party Subcontractors and establishes a production plan to support the demand
  • Procures raw materials for our 3rd Party Subcontractors to support their finished goods production schedule
  • Reconciles production, shipment and inventory data with the 3rd Party Subcontractors on a weekly, monthly and annualized basis
  • Maintains master data in SAP including BOMs, material masters, vendor masters, info records, etc.
  • Leads productivity projects for both raw materials and 3rd Party Subcontracted finished goods
  • Continuously improves sourcing processes with the objective of eliminating waste and minimizing manual system workaroundsMetrics
  • Feedback from commodity leaders, suppliers and plant team members
  • Inventory management goals - SMOI reduction, inventory optimization
  1. Forecasting
  • Serves as the primary link between the commercial organization and the S&OP process
  • Analyzes data and refines forecast strategies to best reflect the seasonality and variability within the CSB Americas business
  • Maintains data integrity in forecasting systems
  • Understands the CSB Americas customer base and changes that may arise as new customers are added or removed
  • Leads meetings with Sales Leadership to share market intelligence and align on the unconstrained demand forecast as input to the final demand forecast
  • Lead the monthly Demand Finalization Meeting where business leadership aligns on a monthly demand forecast for the calendar year

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business or a related field require
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-5 years' experience in a sourcing, supply chain planning, customer service, or materials management role preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Critical thinking, analytical skills and problem solving
  • Forecasting experience and acumen
  • Be able to not only manage and analyze large amounts of data but summarize and present them to a wide variety of participants in the S&OP process
  • Can operate in a fast paced, day to day operations work environment
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • The ability to manage multiple activities, manage projects, and effectively communicate results
  • High work standards / quality
  • Decision making capabilities a must
