Job Responsibilities


PetSmart is the industry leader in specialty pet needs. The MDM Developer performs full systems lifecycle activities for the IBM Advanced Edition (AE) MDM product as part of a cross-functional MDM team. This position is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and support of MDM while promoting a culture of operational excellence by partnering with other areas of the business to optimize company strategic and financial outcomes.

Supervisory responsibilities: No

  • Develop customizations for the currently implemented MDM and coordinate with other developers on best practices
  • Take direction from Senior MDM resources to modify existing logic to meet business need
  • Provide data analysis and audits to identify and address root cause of business problems and to make better informed decisions
  • Focus on reduction of recurring issues through detailed issue resolution, training and documentation
  • Develop key relationships with other departments/functions within the company to drive a culture of operational excellence and to optimize company strategic and financial outcomes
  • Manage master data including users and user roles
  • Evaluate changes and updates to source production systems
  • Implement programming logic that improves the MDM match/merge processes
  • Process existing exception data and develop solutions to reduce future exceptions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years application development. Expertise with systems integration is desired.
  • Experience in multiple SDLC methodologies (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, Iterative)
  • 2+ years of experience designing and developing Master Data Management applications. Strong preference to IBM Infosphere, Advanced Edition (AE)
  • Required knowledge and prior experience working with the IBM Business Process Management (BPM) tool
  • 2+ years using Java-based development languages or tools
  • Experience designing and developing applications on Oracle DB
  • Experience working with standard data constructs such as XML, XSD, JSON, 3NF
  • Preferred experience working with TIBCO and Informatica data integration tools
  • Retail industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively and quickly learn new skills to support multi-functional deliverables; crisp communication and social skills to effectively interact with stakeholders to receive input into deliverables; well-developed coaching skills; mature writing skills; ability to adapt and assimilate quickly into the company culture; positive attitude and flexibility to adjust to fast changing environment

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or Information Systems and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • IBM MDM certification is a plus
  • Java certification is a plus

Technical Skills:
  • Experience with SQL, XML, XSD, JSON, 3NF
  • Experience with programming and API's
  • Knowledge and experience about different types of databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Netezza and Database design structure is very important for this job
