Mechanical Engineering Coop The Mechanical Engineering Coop is a limited duration cooperative education role where university students are hired to assist CT product mechanical engineers with development for a wide range of product features while learning about mechanical engineering in industry. Department Description: The CT GCX (Gantry, Couch, and X-ray) Subsystem group is responsible for the hardware that comprises components for the x-ray generator, collimators, detectors, gantry, patient support, and integrates other subsystems and the platform for the design and implementation of the CT products. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, this unit is part of the CT Global Research and Development organization. Along with other units located in Haifa (Israel), Bangalore (India), and Suzhou (China), we engineer all the hardware required for our extensive product line of CT scanners. Candidate Responsibilities: Work with mechanical design team leaders and engineers to develop new or improved product features. Create and improve drawings based on vendor feedback. Create and modify prototype material and assemblies for current and potentially future CT systems. Perform subsystem level testing on engineering development systems. Candidate Profile: College student of junior or senior status working toward a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Math, Science, or related field with an emphasis on mechanical design engineering. Outstanding GPA with strong course work background including strength of materials, machine design or similar topics Experience with the Microsoft Windows operating environment and use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with 3D modeling and drafting in ProE/Creo, I-DEAS, or other CAD package. Experience using Matlab. Experience or familiarity with full life-cycle development (requirements elicitation, design, development, testing). Previous non-academic design development or employment experience is a plus.
