Technical Sales Intern

What you will do

We are seeking sophomore and junior level engineering students to join our Buildings Engineering Sales Program as in intern for summer 2018. Our training program will give you the opportunity to demonstrate customer focus and prepare you to succeed in a career of sales engineering. In this program you will have a chance to apply your technical engineering knowledge and work with customers to better understand product or project needs and be the subject matter expert. The program consists of a nine-week training with successful sales executives and managers through e-learning and hands-on, real world experiences. Multiple positions at various sites across the United States are available.

The preferred candidate will have aspirations to apply / develop mechanical acumen in an environment where both educational understanding and real life practicality are important to design, testing, and development of HVAC equipment. The preferred candidate will be a self starter and able to use a variety of different engineering tools to succeed at this position. Experience with HVAC systems is a plus.

The preferred candidate will be inclusive and receptive, demonstrating respect and elevating the team when presenting and when learning new ideas and concepts. A good sense of humor and ability to socialize among different cultures, beliefs, and values will be expected as the candidate will be required to operate on cross-functional, multi-cultural teams. Demonstrated ability to recognize and communicate to different audiences is desired. The preferred candidate will be passionate but consciously maintaining a balanced/humble approach to contributing/developing their understanding, experience, and expertise of concepts at different levels of detail.

What we look for
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering track
  • Currently at least a sophomore status
  • Must be located in Louisville, KY area
  • Must be available to work part-time during the semester (15-20 hours/week and full-time during the summer)
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills required
  • Ideally a sophomore level in school, but open to juniors as well
