Amgen is seeking a Medical Writing Manager for their Scientific Affairs
Cardiovascular therapeutic area. This is a full-time, Thousand Oaks, CA corporate
office-based position. Amgen's Scientific Affairs medical writers work closely with opinion leader authors to develop manuscripts and review articles for peer-reviewed clinical journals as well as abstracts, posters, and slide presentations for scientific congresses.
Consider joining a team that participates in developing and communicating a Global Health Economics (GHE) value-evidence strategy for an Amgen pipeline asset or a Marketed Product. Global Medical Writing supports the GHE team in ensuring patient and payer perspectives are incorporated into the value generated for Amgen's innovative biologics.
In addition to providing strategic input to product publication teams and
scientific congress planning teams, Scientific Affairs writers liaise with
medical leads, biostatisticians, and health economists as
well as external opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and journal editors.
Additional responsibilities may include the following:
Developing or editing documents for submission to external regulatory
Developing or editing internal documents requiring robust scientific and value-based summaries
Writing, performing QC checks, or editing materials for product dossiers
Conducting literature searches, reviewing pertinent literature, and preparing summaries or abstracts, as required
Attending scientific congresses and contributing to Scientific Affairs activities
Master's degree and 3 years of Health Economics and Payer experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Health Economics and Payer experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Health Economics and Payer experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Health Economics and Payer experience
Previous medical writing/scientific publication development experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design and results, and pharmacoeconomic studies, in order to understand implications for value to payers
Familiarity with relevant meta-analysis, PRO, systematic review, utility measurement or other outcomes research study as determined by product evidence generation plans/strategy
Experience analyzing and communicating Health Economics data in peer-reviewed journal publications and in abstracts and presentations at scientific congresses
Knowledge of epidemiology, economics, and psychometrics
Ability to work in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment and build strong and successful business partnerships with cross functional colleagues
Proficient in pertinent software (eg, MS Office, EndNote, Adobe
Knowledge of publication practice guidelines and industry best practices
Superb written and verbal communication skills
Experience working independently under limited supervision
Ability to apply project and time management skills to advance numerous
Ability to work in a dynamic and matrixed team environment
The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of epidemiology and health economics in the pharma/biotech business and a deep understanding of the payer environment to support management of Amgen's business
