General Description:
This position is intended for those who are completing requirements for a Master's Degree in Nursing in anticipation of obtaining required certification for a position as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Performs duties appropriate for an experienced Registered Nurse in assigned area until certification is obtained and incumbent can be considered for a Clinical Nurse Specialist position

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Currently completing requirements for a Master's Degree in Nursing.
Experience: Two (2) years as a Registered Nurse
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma, BLS upon hire
Special Requirement: Incumbent may remain in this position for up to 12 months. During this period, the incumbent must be actively enrolled in and complete a Master's Degree in Nursing. The incumbent must also acquire certification issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nurse Registration as an Advance Practice Nurse. At that time, the incumbent may be considered for placement as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. If the incumbent does not achieve the required certification within 12 months, the incumbent may be considered for another position.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills.
