Lowe's 2018 Summer Internship Program offers challenging assignments to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the retail business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a FORTUNE® 50 company. The summer internship program begins with orientation in late May and concludes in early August. All internships are paid and housing is available for those that qualify. This role has potential for conversion into a full-time position for those that successfully complete the internship and upon candidate's graduation.
The internship will consist of a project-based assignment to broaden learning, experience, and organizational knowledge and business acumen. We are looking for people driven by potential. Functional description of Merchandising: Responsible for promoting Lowe's products and services to potential customers with displays and point-of-sale methods and materials that encourage initial or repeat purchase. Activities include determining the optimal product mix for store locations and online; creating visual media that differentiate Lowe's products from those of competitors; and training vendors and stores in Lowe's merchandising standards. Product mix could include Home Decor, Building & Maintenance, and Seasonal Services categories.
The Merchandising Intern will have a dedicated focus on Omni Channel Merchandising. This position will help plan for and execute several projects that will help us identify online and instore line design opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assesses online offering against key competitors to determine shop ability, inspiration, and optimization of assortment.
o Creates, collects, and analyzes customer/business insights as needed to help guide product plans, both short and long-term, with a review and makes recommendations based on the data as needed.
o Offers input to the development of omni-channel line design to achieve financial goals including relevant market share growth compared to the industry.
• Assists with the implementation of programs
• Develops a digital scorecard that captures customer centric online metrics (search, PPI, reviews, content, etc) toward actionable improvements in conversion.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field from an accredited four-year college or university
• Proficient in MS Office Programs
• Strong interpersonal skills
• 3.0 or above GPA
• Relevant internship experience and/or other related work experience, such as a leadership role in student/campus organizations, volunteer, etc.
• Previous retail experience
