U.S. Facilities and Operations:

Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.

Responsibilities
Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Technical Services Director, supervises the Maintenance Systems functions pertaining to Reliability Engineering, Planning and Scheduling, Store Room Operations and CMMS administration. Main responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing the work of employees in the abovementioned areas.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties
  • Drive the Reliability Program. Lead the performance and development of the site's Maintenance and Reliability initiative by setting expectations, coaching, providing feedback, training maintenance personnel and fostering teamwork to build a safe, productive, and proactive maintenance and reliability team.
  • Oversee the prioritization, planning, and scheduling of maintenance and repair work to optimize deployment of personnel and maximize equipment availability. Minimizes unplanned work through Reliability Engineering (RCM, FMEA, CbM), PM Optimization, and TPM activities (RCA, Defect Elimination, Autonomous Maintenance).
  • Maintain and improve the CMMS system (SAP-PM) to provide organized documentation of maintenance tasks in compliance with all company and regulatory agency requirements (cGMP, FDA, OSHA, ISO).
  • Oversee storeroom operations including spare parts inventories. Responsible for monthly spare parts expenses, cost forecasting, and annual maintenance budget preparation. Implement activities to improve service levels and support reliability initiatives.
  • Prepare maintenance metrics to track, trend, communicate and drive action to continuously improve equipment performance and optimize asset utilization.
  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of capital equipment purchases, modifications, and associated spare parts purchases. Ensure that projects meet DfR (design for reliability) program criteria.
  • Manage the development and preparation of specifications for improvements to existing and/or new processes, equipment, and technology. Assists in the planning and designing of improvements in the manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Manage projects by developing a project schedule and team, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to senior level management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates within the Maintenance organization.
  • Prepare department budget. Manage cost savings and associated projects.
  • Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic activities involving up to and in excess of $10MM (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
  • Prepare and present technical investigative reports including recommendations to senior level management.
  • Supervise all personnel in the unit for proper application of company policies and procedures and job performance.
  • Provides performance appraisal, employee coaching and counseling. Resolves conflicts and initiates disciplinary action when needed. Approves employee change status such as promotion, demotion, termination, etc.
  • Ensure adequate staffing (head count) and coordinates tasks for hiring of additional personnel. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and overseeing training of employees.
  • Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • High degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
Expertise: Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Qualifications
Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering) from four-year college or university and 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
Desired:
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP - SMRP) and/or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE - ASQ)
  • Familiarity with equipment Lifecycle Management (LCM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC), and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience with Automation, PLC's, SCADA, Controls, and Vision systems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
