PANASONIC AVIONICS is currently in search of an AVIONICS SYSTEMS ENGINEER for a full-time, direct-hire position based out of corporate headquarters located at 26200 Enterprise Way, Lake Forest, CA 92630.

What you will be doing :
The Avionics System Engineering will be selected to participate in the development of new and/or enhanced wireless / RF product capabilities including requirements definition, modeling & simulation, documentation and communication of requirements, both internally and externally with our customers. Additional responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
  • Draft / update use cases, system or subsystem requirements, and architecture / configuration for the assigned responsibility area.
  • Conduct wireless communication bandwidth performance analysis, measurement, and prediction.
  • Working with R&D group to define prototype scenario, and performance parameters.
  • Collect field test data, create & fine tune simulation model, and provide performance prediction & constraints.
  • Conduct and present trade study as needed
  • Create & maintain system / subsystem interface definition
  • Participate in project design reviews to ensure design meets intended requirements
  • Review test plans / cases to ensure requirement traceability
  • Support customer proposal & program as needed
  • Interface with internal / external stakeholders (ex. Developers, OEM, customers, etc.) to ensure technical solution meets requirements
  • Manage requirement and architecture changes process
  • Ensure product meets applicable industry (FAA / FCC / etc.) standard.
    Qualifications:
    Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
    • Experienced in using and generating RF simulation / benchmark to evaluate cabin installation location, potential interference, standard compliance, passenger usage impact, and future product improvement.
    • Hands on experience with modeling / simulation tools such as MatLab, iBwave, Savant, etc.
    • Knowledgeable in RF system level hardware design and development, requirements definition, analysis, and safety/risk mitigation for commercial aerospace environments.
    • Ability to work directly with the customer to understand, develop, and resolve all technical requirements, as well as flow-down system level requirements. Experience as the primary customer focal for all technical aspects of the network architecture and functional deployment.
    • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management and customers as well as mentoring of other engineers. Education/Experience Requirements:
      • BS in an Engineering discipline
      • 10+ plus years of experience in developing wireless communications and RF technologies for commercial aerospace or military defense applications.
      • Experienced working in a multi-discipline technical team through technology development and successful deployment of multi-segment level network architecture deployments, including satellite network upgrades.
      • Experience with high reliability, quality of service requirements and holistic cyber security network integration.
      • Experience in developing interfaces between aerospace vehicles and ground infrastructure systems.
      • Significant industry experience with commercial aerospace communications traffic protocols, standards development, regulatory requirements, service providers and operational communications traffic classification is highly desired.
