Performs any combination of following duties in care of patients under the direct supervision or delegation of nursing and medical staff: answers call lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients' needs and fulfills them when applicable. Obtains and administers bed side report. Completes VS and all delegated tasks associated with them: Records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, pulse oximetry, blood sugars, and food and fluid intake and output as directed, reporting any abnormal findings to nursing STAT. Serves and collects food trays when appropriate. Performs AM/PM care on all patients which includes but not limited to: Oral care, bathing, toileting, dressing, assisting with all meals, supplements and snacks. Assists with ambulation when appropriate and transports patients using wheelchair, wheeled cart/bed, or assists mobile patients with walking on discharge. Drapes patients for examinations and treatments, and remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights when applicable. Turns and repositions bedfast patients every 2 hours to prevent bedsores, either alone using a lift or sheet, or with assistance. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors and answers telephone. Assists with set up and breakdown of patient rooms. Cleans, sterilizes, stores, prepares and issues dressing packets, treatment trays, and other supplies. Dusts and cleans patients' rooms.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Licensure/Certification: Nursing Assistant Certification and current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), (Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider card) required.
Experience: Previous experience as a nursing assistant preferred.
