PaaS Nerve Ops Support Engineer
As an Oracle Cloud PaaS Nerve Ops Support team, your role is to Provide Support to Oracle Cloud Customers to ensure their service availability and enable good response time for their requests. It includes resolving product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, following up with Product / Service development teams to ensure resolution and also proactively monitoring for possible issues. You will also maintain, administer, monitor and report the state of large-scale Oracle Cloud Infrastructure be responsible for its high availability and best possible performance. Working as part of a Nerve Center shift, you will be part of the global follow-the-sun 24/7/365 Oracle PaaS Cloud Operations team with the mission to maintain and enhance the global cloud environment. Duties and Responsibilities
Perform shift Nerve Center coverage managing PaaS Cloud Platform Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background
Fulfill incident requests from internal and external customers surrounding the management of PaaS Platform within applicable Service Level Objectives
Follow standard operating procedures and policies in administering the PaaS Cloud Services.
Execute approved changes during change windows
Remotely deploy, configure, troubleshoot and optimize hardware
Contribute to the Oracle DevOps toolchain through python/php and bash scripts
Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports
Recommend and execute modifications to Linux systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
Participate in project delivery aimed at increasing capabilities around monitoring, notification, configuration and deployment of servers and applications within PaaS Cloud platform
Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of Linux systems to meet business demands
BS computer science or Equivalent Qualification and/or 3 years equivalent work experience Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background
At least 2 years exp in Middleware/System admin within any of the following technologies - Oracle WebLogic , IBM Websphere, JBoss, Apache tomcat or any Java EE compatible application servers
At least 2 years production exp in supporting within any Unix-like operating systems(Linux/Unix/Solaris) and middleware
Working knowledge of web applications, http requests/responses, headers, response codes, Basic web development experience a plus.
Basic System Administration, Shell scripting with Perl/any Shell , Functional knowledge of SQLPlus.
Ability to communicate well at all levels, Strong organizational skills, Self-motivating, ability to work in a team environment, Ability to learn new skills quickly with little supervision
Additional Skills (preferable) includes Networks, Understanding of IP networks, ability to analyze and monitor network traffic, DNS
Prior experience in Technical Support is a plus, ITIL (training or certification) or IT Service Management is a plus.
Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, firewall management, and database administration.
Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience
Certification(s) in a Linux Administration in any distribution Work Conditions
Certification(s) in a Oracle Database Administration
Certification(s) in a WebLogic Administration
Prior experience in mission-critical support role
Prior hands-on experience with Java/Python Development
Experience with Hadoop, Puppet or Graphite frameworks
Experience with Jenkins/Hudson or other continuous integration environments
Experience with GIT
Experience with Oracle Linux/Solaris
Experience with virtualization frameworks such as VirtualBox, OVS/OVMM
On-call availability for seven days per month Qualifications:
Shift schedule may include office work outside of standard business hours

As a member of the IT organization, assist with the design, development, modifications, debugging, and evaluation of programs for use in internal systems within a specific function area.
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures.
