Network Architect

Responsibilities: • Own the end to end architecture for our SMS and MMS messaging products including customer interfaces, provider interfaces,, infrastructure architecture (scale, HA) and integration with Bandwidth systems including Bandwidth Application Platform, Bandwidth Dashboard and NOC Portal. • Collaborate with industry partners and customers to derive integration details. • Work with product management and engage internal customers to understand requirements and gather feedback on solutions • Collaborate with SPO(s) to define and groom user stories • Collaborate with local and offshore development teams (during regular US hours) to design and support system structures to support these requirements • Work closely with engineering team to define deployment architectures which meet performance and availability targets. • Drive the build vs. buy decisions as needed, and identify key partners needed to deliver new products. • Help troubleshoot production issues when escalated to the development team Further responsibilities in line with the broader solution architect role include: • Work with customers and internal teams to identify opportunities within the evolving space of telecom networks, and understanding what's important to customers – a forward looking view that begs the question, 'what's next?' • Develop product ideas into product concepts that can be reviewed and validated with potential customers. Product concepts will include prototypes to demonstrate product capabilities, as well as concept-level strategy and technology requirements. • Work with the solution architects, and management within Bandwidth to define and promote the correct architectural and technical solutions to drive the growth of the business. Qualifications: • Expertise in messaging service architecture and protocols including SMS, MMS, SMPP, SMTP, SIP • Expertise in system architecture including scalability, reliability, performance. • Expertise in IP networking architecture and protocols. • Experience designing solutions using high-availability, high-performance, open source technologies • Familiarity with both relational and NoSQL database systems. • Excellent technical problem-solving skills. • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring in a team environment. • Understanding and experience in web service architecture and APIs • Experience working in an Agile software development environment a plus. • Commitment to personal development and balance; extracting a sense of achievement, enjoyment, pride and fulfillment from every business day. Required Experience • Bachelor degree (within an engineering or computer science discipline preferred) • 5+ years of experience working in software engineering, sales engineering, or a solutions architect role with large-scale projects. • Experience with SMS and MMS service architecture and deployment. • Experience demonstrating competency of the required skills defined above.
