What you’ll be doing...

We are looking for an outstanding Network Engineer to help support Verizon initiatives to enable the next generation of Network automation and intelligence. You will be well versed in all aspects of the tools development, programing, configuration and capabilities and perform development work in multiple languages as well as scripting.

You will provide engineering direction to peers within our Network Support Systems organization and manage our current vendor of applications for enhancements and automation. You will determine budget needs for functionality roadmaps and deliver automation solutions for the organization. In addition to the Engineering and Development duties, you will also perform day-to-day development of applications.

You will be required to drive the integration of Closed Loop Automation/Data Integration as well as be responsible to work with vendors to define needs of the business. You will also drive architectural decisions to ensure applications maintain capacity and evolve to the needs of the business.

  • Assess, document, and improve thru programming the current procedures and Service /VNF specific requirements with Verizon related to CENX Exanova
  • Research and develop script automation with REST/Python for template/descriptor files and build out scripting to drive adoption.
  • Use orchestration and assurance tool chains such as HP-NFV Director, CENX Exanova, Ericsson Cloud Manager, SevOne, Rift ware.
  • Partner with Engineering, Network, and Planning teams as well as external vendors and communities.
  • Drive feature enhancement needs and manage vendors to align with the Network Support Systems roadmap.
  • Support new technologies like Unified Messaging Bus, Data Lake integration/ Analytics, integration with Service Assurance and Network Orchestrators. Develop PHP/ API/ Yang based middleware to integrate systems together. Advance deployments of existing Net-Flow and Log Aggregation collectors to drive usage.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Background in Networking, DevOps or Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Transport LAN/WAN Networks, IMS Core, and Volte architecture.
  • Ability to create scripts and write API’s/ Integrate APIs between systems.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI Interconnect model, LAN and WAN topology.
  • Experience with Python/PHP/PERL.
  • Experience with Apache, MySQL, KSH, JSON, Bash, XML, Bash, and UNIX, JIRA ticketing.
  • Understanding of HPOV, VSM, syslog, OpenStack Services, Docker, KVM.
  • Knowledge Regular Expression (RegEx).
  • Experience with NMS/ Fault Monitoring/ Performance tools.
  • Previous working experience with Network Management Systems (NMS) Network design, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment with constantly changing priorities.
