Current Need

Network/Desktop Systems Specialist

Position Description

Provides technical support to internal or external networked/ desktop systems. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots workstations, and servers in a heterogeneous environment. Maintains password security, data integrity, and file system security. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 1 – 4 years hands-on end user workstation /network support experience and customer service experience. 

 

Technical troubleshooting skills related to hardware such as workstations, laptops, printers and software such as networking tools, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, electronic health records, WSUS, and SCCM.   Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).  Critical thinking and analytical skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft O/S applications, workstation hardware, and network & communication protocols.

Critical Skills

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Proven customer service skills.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

End-user training skills essential to assist with end user education.  Proven ability to document workflow procedures and technical processes.

Education

Typically requires a 2-year Computer Science technical degree or equivalent experience. BS preferred.


Physical Requirements

 

Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to be standing and walking much of the work day.  Manual dexterity necessary to work with small objects (i.e., screws, jumpers, and cables). Ability to see and read written instructions and the ability to hear transmitted instructions (P.O.S.T. beeps).
